We’re a group of senior citizens (and some who will be) who get together once a month (usually the second Tuesday of the month) to celebrate life through learning, laughter and travel as we feed our minds and bodies through fellowship and good times.
We feed our minds through visits to museums (such as the Cincinnati Museum Center, Patton Military Museum, Air Force Museum in Dayton), and historic places (such as the Lincoln Memorial, Blue Licks Battlefield, Henry Clay Home, and Whitehall). We have been received by the Governor, toured the Capitol Building and Governor’s Mansion, the Old Capitol Building and the Lt Governor’s residence. We’ve visited Morehead State University’s Space Science Center and Star Theater, eaten our may across the state – at Root-A-Bakers in Morehead, Science Hill Inn, Old Talbot Tavern in Bardstown, The Jailer’s Home in Carlisle, the Boone Tavern in Berea, to name a few.
We’ve been entertained at Lexington’s Opera House, the Derby Dinner Playhouse, The Stephen Foster Story and at Louisville’s Kentucky Center. We have some standard events every year to celebrate Christmas, Valentines’ Day, and an annual Picnic at Natural Bridge State Park. We also plan overnight trips to such places as The Opryland Hotel in Nashville, the Whitestone Country Inn in Kingston, TN or to Pigeon Forge, TN.
The most important thing about Young At Heart is the fellowship we enjoy with one another as we travel around the state on Macedonia’s beautiful bus. We have truly been blessed by the Lord with the abundant opportunities we have in Kentucky through Macedonia.
